In times of social unrest, lack of direction, and eagerness to find joy in the small things, the Department of English at the University of Vienna asked students to write manifestos to providing insight into the values of the department’s student population. I had the great honor and pleasure to have had my manifesto “On the importance of oxymorons” published on the department’s website and be able to share my idea with a larger audience.
The purpose of the manifesto is to have a life-affirming effect and install a sense of optimism in the reader by relying on captivating visual rhetoric and rhetorical devices (repetition, oxymorons) in line with the overall theme.
